In fact, the CVC probe has provided fresh ammunition to a cross-section of society, including the local unit of the Congress, which had been demanding a CBI inquiry into land deals terming them as "mega land scandals". The CVC decision is being viewed as a "personal setback" for Rodrigues who pushed his pet but controversial projects, including the Amusement-cum-Theme Park, the Film city, the Medicity and the Phase III of the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP), despite the stiff opposition from various quarters. The first round of the slugfest between UT Administrator SF Rodrigues and his Adviser Pradip Mehra over the Administration's much-touted mega projects has ended in favour of the latter with the the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) deciding to hold an inquiry into the land deals in the run-up to the allotment of land for these projects.
